Plane, train, bus, car. Real travel times, the Starominskaya junction, the only working airport within reach (Krasnodar) — and why getting here is easier than it sounds.
Yeisk is a small town in Krasnodar Krai on the Sea of Azov. There's no airport in Yeisk itself, but getting here is simpler than it sounds: decent asphalt, clear junctions, every major route runs through Starominskaya. Below — real routes with timings and the small details guidebooks rarely cover.
From Krasnodar
The most common route. By car — 240 km, 3–3.5 hours on the A-148 highway via Korenovsk and Starominskaya. The road is two-lane, lorries overtake on the centre line — give yourself time, don't push. Plenty of petrol stations; the last reliable one is in Starominskaya. Hotel parking is free.
By bus — services from Krasnodar-1 station, 4–4.5 hours, 900–1,200 ₽, six to eight runs a day. A direct seasonal train from Krasnodar runs in high summer only.
From Rostov-on-Don
The counter-intuitive fact: Rostov is closer than Krasnodar. By car — 180 km, 2.5–3 hours along M-4 "Don" to Kushchovskaya, then via Starominskaya. The road is even, overtakes are calm.
Note: Platov Airport in Rostov is currently closed, so Rostov works as a rail and road hub, not a flight option. Trains from Moscow to Rostov run regularly — from there it's 180 km on the M-4 by hire car or taxi, or the Rostov–Yeisk bus.
From Moscow
By plane — only to Krasnodar: Rostov's Platov is currently closed and there's no other airport within reach. Two hours from Moscow, plenty of daily flights. From Krasnodar to Yeisk — 240 km, 3–3.5 hours by car or 4 hours by bus. Door to hotel: 6–7 hours total.
By train — the seasonal "Moscow–Yeisk" branded service, 22–24 hours. Off-season, with a change in Krasnodar. The right choice for big luggage or no-fly travel.
By car — 1,300 km on the M-4. With one night in Voronezh or Rostov, that's two relaxed days. We wouldn't recommend doing it in a single push: after 12 hours behind the wheel, you'll resent the arrival.
From St Petersburg
By plane — only to Krasnodar, 2.5 hours. Direct flights run year-round. From there, follow the "From Krasnodar" routes above. There's no direct train from St Petersburg to Yeisk: route via Moscow and pick up the seasonal "Moscow–Yeisk" service or any train down to Krasnodar/Rostov.
From nearby cities
From Anapa — 280 km, 4 hours via Timashevsk. From Gelendzhik — 360 km, 5 hours. From Sochi — 600 km, 8–9 hours: a long day, better split with a night in Krasnodar. From Taman (via Temryuk and Slavyansk-on-Kuban) — 320 km, 4.5 hours.
What to know about the road
Every route funnels through the village of Starominskaya. If your sat-nav offers a dirt-road shortcut, ignore it — stick to the main highway. In winter and on icy days, the Kushchovskaya section is occasionally closed: check before you set off.
The M-4 "Don" has paid sections — between Moscow and Voronezh and further south, payable by transponder or at the booths. If you're driving from Rostov to Yeisk the toll stretch up to Kushchovskaya is short but real — budget 200–400 ₽ depending on the segment. The A-148 from Krasnodar is toll-free. Petrol stations are plentiful on M-4 and A-148; Starominskaya and Kushchovskaya have everything. Roadside cafés are hit-and-miss — bring your appetite to Yeisk.
Transfer from the hotel
If you'd rather not drive, the front desk can arrange a pickup from Krasnodar or Rostov with a vetted driver. Pricing depends on the direction — easier to confirm when you book the room.
